About the role

Lensa's data platform processes hundreds of millions of events per day and powers analytics, reporting, and machine learning across the company. As a Software Engineer on the Data team, you will build and operate the distributed systems behind it — batch and streaming pipelines, a lakehouse on open table formats, and the infrastructure feeding ML trainer & inference services. You will work with diverse data technologies such as AWS services, Spark, Flink, Kafka, and Iceberg to build scalable and robust data solutions.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable batch and streaming data pipelines processing structured and semi-structured data at high volume

• Write production-grade Python — typed, tested, and deployed through CI/CD

• Build real-time data infrastructure supporting stream processing and low-latency ML inference

• Refactor existing pipelines and datasets to support expanded use cases and greater scalability

• Partner with Data Scientists and Engineering teams to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable data solutions

• Participate in design and code reviews and help raise the team's engineering bar

What You Bring

• 5+ years building data-intensive applications or backend systems

• High proficiency in Python and strong software engineering fundamentals: testing strategy, CI/CD, debugging distributed systems in production

• Expertise in distributed data processing patterns and hands-on experience with big data technologies (Spark, Flink, or similar)

• Strong SQL capabilities for complex queries

• Working knowledge of AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, EMR, or equivalents) and experience running your own code in production

• Ability to operate independently, embrace new technologies, and make sound technical decisions

• Solid communication skills in English

Bonus Points

• Production experience with Kafka and stateful stream processing in Flink

• Open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake) and lakehouse architectures

• ML serving experience: feature pipelines, inference APIs, A/B testing
